Biography
Dr. Fazel Khayatian is an Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA). He is the Director of SentinelHive and holds appointments at the School of Architecture and Planning (SA+P) and the School of Civil & Environmental Engineering, and Construction Management (CECM). Prior to joining UTSA, Dr. Khayatian was a scientist at the Swiss Federal Laboratories (Empa) and a lecturer at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich) from 2019 to 2023. He was also an Assistant Professor in the Department of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Nottingham in Ningbo from 2018 to 2019.
Research Interests
Dr. Khayatian’s research primarily focuses on privacy and security in building energy management systems. This includes data leakage in building automation and control systems, building data anonymization, and the reliability of data-driven building performance modeling.
